Part of the Process

So, just submitted the application form for the new apartment a couple of days ago. It's gonna be my new home and workspace. From living in a place that could pass off as a forest, to a small apartment near the so-called business district and, now, (if me and my flatmate get the apartment we want, that is), somewhere in the older parts of the city. I've been looking at other people's houses for inspiration. Just look at the pictures below. Click to enlarge.

High ceiling and a lot of space.
White walls and wooden floors.

Interesting but minimal furniture.
By minimal I mean minimal in number.
I want space. I don't want clutter.

Huge windows. And again, lots of space.

Minimal furniture and lots of reading materials
on the wooden floors.
This would probably be in my future bedroom.

Plants. I want plants.
Maybe a terrarium?
Rainforest in a bottle! Why not?

Okay, nothing concrete yet. But I'm taking inspiration for my parts of the house/studio from Alexander Wang's workspace and Julia Restoin Roitfeld's apartment. I love their space. If only...

Public Display of Materialism

Some interesting items I saw while spending hours and hours in front of the computer petrifying my brain with online window shopping. A couple of concrete and asphalt inspired pieces from the A/W 09 collection of Hussein Chalayan.

A jacket in the most amazing shade of grey with concrete facets impression. Really amazing. Just look at the details. Very impressive. Looks hard and soft at the same time.

A pair of asphalt print pants.

To die for. Well, not exactly. We're not that materialistic. But still, sheer genius. And we here at the Monochromator camp are in love with the color (okay, okay, shade, not color), grey.

Stealing Beauty, Possession Obsession

I am currently so much in awe of classic film actress Anna Karina’s beauty. She is so stunning in the most absolute way possible. It’s incredible and almost comparable to looking at them shoes I desire to own.

Please help yourself and take a look.

A woman is a woman and beauty does something to us. I love how it stirs me up inside, it's very inspiring.

BONUS VID: A friend found this on You Tube. Someone made a video of The Pixies' "Wave of Mutilation", using clips from Anna Karina's ex-hubby Godard's movie "Pierrot Le Fou" (where she also starred in). It's a beautiful vid that's well-fitted for the song. I can watch and listen to it 100x in a day.

Wanted: Benefactors

Some stuff for Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 from one of my favorites, Ann Demeulemeester.

A double breasted cardigan that can be worn several ways (again, why didn't I think of that?!), a vest/drapery with bells, an asymmetric t-shirt. Heaven!

A couple of stuff from the men's department and that sweater. Oh god.

Some accessories and an amazing boot.

And a few looks from the men's department for Spring-Summer 2010

Leather and feathers, chain harness, black, white and beige.

Amazing! If only I can afford it. Now where can I find benefactors? Kidding!

A Life Less Ordinary

I don't filter colors like I used to, not for this post, at least.

Here's to blog about some sketches of Pinoy contempo-artist
Kiko Escora...
The artist in his studio, beside one of his works.
Some of his charcoal drawings from the previous year..
and these...
He's effortlessly stylish, too, in those Dior Homme pants and boots
+ them white Van Assche sneaks.
BONUS PIC: Kiko also does the decks as electro-rawking discojockey KIKIMACHINE.
Side Note: These are just samples of his works. There is more via www.myspace.com/kokix and www.myspace.com/manilaanimal.
(I actually just swiped every thing from there, except for the shoes and pants' pic which belongs to Style Samurai.)

P.S. - I tried to do an "art" post, tried harder to talk the talk but ended up sounding like a mindless robot, as usual. LOL.
I'm such a poser!:p
XOXO

**DISCLAIMER: I'm writing this additional note, hours after publishing this post. Because I'm not an "art" person and won't be able to do his work any justice by elaborating on it, the focus here, instead - thru casual, thoughtless blogging - is on the multi-facets of this man's thingy as artist/painter, "musician" and stylista. Ergo, it's very appropriate to conclude that when I grow up, I wanna be Kiko Escora.

To Fancy Givenchy...

It's not intentional to do another post on shoes and more stuff from lux online shop LUISAVIAROMA right after another. It's just that I caught myself holding my breath when I laid eyes on these. Oh come 'on, do this with me. :D

Yesterday's News Today (HK Spring/Summer Sale!)

What's your shoe desire at the moment?

Imelda Marcos has a gazillion of shoes. I ain't diggin' her Blahniks that much. On a kind of different note, it's already sale season in Hong Kong and I have to decide on which shoes to conSOLE myself with. Went on an online-window shopping spree for Spring/Summer shoes and these should help narrow down the options.

GARETH PUGH

LANVIN

JIL SANDER

RICK OWENS

BONUS PICS: Seriously considering Rick Owens’ S/S un-shoe shoes. They’re so out-of-the-box. (But then, of course, we can never tell. I just might end up with a different pair.)

Cosmic Wonder Light Source

I know this isn't exactly new but I love clothes that are circular and can be worn several ways. So I think this is right up my alley. I don't know what the Japanese eat but there must be something in their food that makes them come up with good ideas that makes one go, "Why didn't I think of that?" I know, I know this is just a T-shirt. Blah, blah, blah. But me likey.
