Green, Green, Green!

Okay. Blame it on Balmain but the color green from the camouflage spectrum gets prominent this Spring/Summer 2010. I'm glad. ;D

UNDERCOVER + CELINE
RAG & BONE + ALEXANDER McQUEEN
ISABEL MARANT + KENZO
GIVENCHY + JOHN GALLIANO
ALEXANDER WANG + LOUIS VUITTON
BALMAIN + BALMAIN
(Speaking of the darvil, yes.)

BONUS PIC: A Jak&Jil shoe shot, of course.

Imitation of Christ: Thou Shalt Covet

I lack the appetite for most things Fall/Winter of this year. Helmut Lang's and some of Rag&Bone's Resort 2010 collections have tickled my desire though. But it's truly IMITATION OF CHRIST that I crave - too bad now, it's gone extinct for years.

No, we don't follow trends.

Linked with Iconique

Rotterdam's Iconique Fashion Online Magazine likes The Monochromator and we like them back!

Here's a secret: X2 and I have not been going over our email for months now (haha!). So, when I forced myself to go over its content this afternoon, aside from travel agencies and other products that wanted to place ads via this blog, 'twas a nice surprise to find an email from a gorgeous online magazine called Iconique.

The email read: "...we'd like to compliment you on your website. Iconique Fashion
Magazine tries to keep its stylish link directory a high quality resource that is free from spammy sites... Your site will be a wonderful addition..."

Whoever said that flatterry won't get you anywhere is mistaken. In a snap, X1 was pumped for action! Lazy old me went to work by going over the site's content to updating our links.

It is a fab website. We dig its fashion and art content, among others. And, since they like us, that says a lot about their taste and sense of style. Thanks, Iconique!

P.S. - And, thank YOU for your comments. It's amazing to know that you're there, that you appreciate what we share. It makes blogging - this high regard and this need for expression - worthwhile. xoxo.

Taken By Cars

(Time Magazine wrote about how French people, in general, are big on luxury in terms of designer fashion, cosmetics and jewelry, while the Germans would rather mostly spend their fortune on expensive cars.)
So anyhoo, that Tarantino movie where Kurt Russell plays a psycho driver-stuntman was dope. I’ve also watched a lot of Night Rider when I was a kid. Other than these, I’m really not a car aficionado. It’s just a form of transpo, you see. Plus, cars look the same to me. ‘Xcept that these beauties are so articulate in design, I noticed me staring at them details of these ‘60s Ferrari and Lamborghini far longer than normal. Click at the pics for a bigger view. Nice, eh?

Got these photos from Mirage. And you know, I kept on saying that Mirage Magazine is from London. But I looked it up online and apparently, it’s a German read that’s just written in English. Kinda odd how I never found it from the actual magazine, or maybe I should browse thru it more than 2x he, he.

Ooh La La PROUDRACE

I think it was Madonna - from some magazine article I've read a long time ago - who said that the trick is to keep evolving.

Proudrace, a trio of brilliant 20somethings who made pop the slogan shirts in this country, does fine at it -> evolving. (My hunch, actually, is that a good understanding of their niche had played well for them). Here’s to share what they've got nowadays. These are my faves from their new stuff:
