In the Mood for Hood

Almost sinister and a bit unsettling, yet so powerfully mysterious and even somewhat glamorous (imagine Grace Kelly in one), the hood is. Cloak-ed, it looks wilder and fantastical. Anyhoo, here’s to share bits of “hooded” editorials from Philippines’ Imagine, Brit Vogue and I-D magazines.

I almost forgot to mention that it’s an option for bad hair days and that it’s a good headgear for the cold weather and quite the best alterna for hats. Sometimes, too, it’s just nice to half-hide your face just ‘cos. (Must fashion be this practical? What would your boss at work think if you face him with an explanation for yesterday’s undelivered task in the partial concealment of a hoodie? Would your colleagues think you want to join them for lunch? Or would they think that you want to skip lunch and stay at your desk to check your Facebook status? Hmmm...)

Emmanuelle is the Alt

Do you find me too Vogue-obsessed? Aren't you as well? Or is that too general a view of the world? What about the hungry? What about the broken-hearted? C'mon, it's the alternative world of fashion!
It's nice to take a break. ;)

And, Emmanuelle Alt is the shit. This is her time, too, and I'm loving every minute of it.

BONUS PIC: E.A.'s Styling from a French Vogue '02 Editorial (It's like a hybrid of herself and her boss, The Madame Roitfeld. Ha.)

Vogue You, Vogue Me, Vogue Love

Found this 1977 Vogue Book months ago from a stall that sells 2nd hand paper and hardbacks.

Searched online earlier and this collectible is being sold by Mary Ward Books for $27.54 USD (exclusive of shipping). I did the peso to dollar math and I got it for just around $3 USD. Whoohoo! =D

Plus ---> the authors autograph:

This photo with the cracked egg pouring has got to be my fave. (Remember back then when our mums would do like egg hair treatments some weekends? Wasn't it a popular beauty ritual during the 80s? Is it making a comeback yet?)

This gorgeous vintage find has got so many super nice photos. One called ArtDecoBlog has it on post.

I also found a Gatochy on Flickr that's got its luscious pages scanned and I could have easily copied some images from there but didn't. (It's somewhat better to look at them pics via my phone camera. I like the absence of precision, how so wrongly natural lighting hits the pages when I take a shot.)

Karen Graham

Francoise Hardy

Penelope Tree

Bonus: A couple of pages from Brit Vogue's November '08 article on "The Beautifuls", (not the exact title but I'm not home and could not refer to the magazine).

My picks from that article:

Vanessa Paradis

Bianca Jagger

Jane Birkin

Design Scene, The Blog (LOL)

Browsing thru this over coffee and cigs before leaving for work this morning. Decided to put my phone camera to good use for a bit. ;)

P.S. About my previous post on Singapore shop BlackMarket, BlackMark is not just 1 person, I got corrected. It's a collab of 5 people and 1 of them is Filipino. Sounds awesome to me, still. :)
